My name is Michael Webb.

And for the last 17 years I've been teaching people how to have fulfilling and successful relationships that last a lifetime through the power of romance.

In fact, because of some of my dating and romance ideas, media around the world have taken to calling me "The World's Most Romantic Man," "America's Romance Expert," "Mr. Romance," "The Martha Stewart of Romance" and other interesting monikers.

I don't necessarily agree with the titles, but I do aim to be the world's most loving husband to my wife of 22 years, Athena.

Did you know that while going out for dinner and a movie is one of the most popular dates, it is also one of the very worst dates you can go on? -- especially for couples in the early stages of dating!

Don't believe me?

Imagine this. You're sitting at a restaurant with your beautiful date and everything seems to be going fine. But after ordering your meals, you realize you can't think of anything interesting to talk about. You try to think of something… anything!…

At that moment, your palms sweat, your heart thumps, and your mind begins to race at 100 miles an hour, as you notice your date looking around the room disinterested.
And after two hours filled with awkward silence and generic questions, you take her home…

…only to be struck with the cold sinking feeling that you blew your chances forever.

Play bartender.

Skip the bars one evening and play cocktail master at home. Whip up seasonal beverages like apple cider margaritas or old favorites like mojitos and battle it out to see who makes the best drink.

Watch a no-drive drive-in movie.

No car needed! Just rent or stream a new flick on a laptop and cozy up in the backyard, a park, or on a rooftop. Don’t forget healthy snacks like trail mix and popcorn to munch on.

Exchange DIY massages.

A session of relaxing back work is more than a nice way to #treatyoself after a stressful week at the office or a tough workout. Studies have found that massages can reduce stress, alleviate pain, and improve mood. Fortunately it’s easy to recreate a pricey spa outing with an essential oil of your choice (lavender is especially calming) and a few lit candles to set the mood. Happy kneading!

Host a foreign movie night (with a twist).

Pop in an international film but skip the subtitles. Instead, try guessing what’s going on just by watching the plot unfold (bonus points for narration). Maybe that high school French class will come in handy?

Organize a game night.

Teleport to middle school—minus the braces and social awkwardness—with a night of Battleship, Checkers, or Jenga. Alcohol is optional (and slightly encouraged)

Visit a farmers’ market.

Scout out seasonal produce, take advantage of the freshest ingredients, support local businesses, and get to know exactly where your food is coming from. Arrive early for dibs on the biggest selection, or come by an hour before close to get the best deals. When you get home, whip up some healthy snacks or a romantic meal for two.
Head to a flea market.
Scoping out the various for-sale goods can be the perfect way to score super cheap (and needed) clothes and home d├ęcor. If anything, it’s a surefire way to get some endorphin-boosting laughs at the sight of what others are trying to pawn off… anyone need a mannequin?
